DAY 1 Introductions

January 28, 2010

Well it was nice to finally meet my new class – love teaching this course and no matter how many classes I have, they are always different from any other. It was nice to meet all the new students to KHHS as well as touch base with some well known faces.

Remember the information about how you are to keep your work organised – this is probably one of the “KEYS” to achieving your best results.

You received a number of handouts today including syllabus documents(there is a link to this in the last post I made.) In addition some pages titled “What Do People Mean by Health? In today’ s lesson we looked at definitions of health and the 5 dimensions of health. Over the next 3 days I would like you to add 1  comment about ” How how an individual’s circumstances affect their health”

Consider this as your first HOMEWORK

How does and individual’s circumstances affect their health?

Eveyone likes to be healthy, but different peoples circumstances may restrict them, doing exercise for instance, which could result them in being ‘less’ healthy than what we would class as a healthy person.
An example coud be, someone who has asthma may not be able to run for as long as everyone else, causing them to get slightly less exercise, resulting in them being a little less healthy.

Like in one of the sheets, a person can be in a wheelchair and still have a good healthy life despite not being able to use their legs. So a wheelchair basketball player could be seen as more healthy than someone who can walk but doesnt exercise.

Everyone is different and so everyone’s circumstances may be different. People with physical or even mental disabilities wouldn’t be able to participate in the same activities that people with healthy bodies would. Whether it’s physical, social, mental, spiritual or emotional activities it could affect their health greatly.

How does an individual’s circumstances affect their health?

If an individual is in a circumstance where they are working full time or have a demanding job, it is more difficult to find the time and energy do regular physical activity. This could result in the person becoming overweight, as well as being unhealthy.

Some one who has 1 leg wont be able to do as much exercise as everyone else which would make there physical health go down and effect there emotional health

We all know that everyone is different, so of course the financial, scholarly and physical factors, for example are the different “strings” that create our “web” of health. Because the five categories of health all inter-relate with one another, if, for example, you and your friends all had relatively healthy bodies, but then one day you have a car accident and lose the use of your legs, that will significantly change every aspect of the things that make up your health. No running around, probably not as many outings, and your self-confidence, and the idea of who you are will change forever.

There are many different examples of where an individuals circumstances affects their health, for example, say you are brought up in a poor family you could resolve in unhealthy eating habits such as fast foods. Social outings and sport could also be a problem if you don’t have the money these things can cause in poor physical, social and emotional health.

Everyone has an optimal level of health that can be different due to their circumstances. For e.g. Person who injured his legs and on a wheelchair can still live a normal life but he may not be as fit as a normal healthy person. So different in circumstances will affect their health.

There are many circumstances that affects people’s health. I think it depends on an individuals lifestyle, how hard they work, how hard they excercise, what they eat, etc. For example it can be easy to become a labourer as the only thing you need to become it is some job training but as you get older it may be hard for you and your health because of how much energy you used from your body.

An individuals circumstances can affect ones health due to reasons like, illnesses that limit them from having a healthy lifestyle and that making it harder for them to participate more compared to someone not suffering from an illness in physical activity which might make them in a way not having as good a health. Another reason could be family issues causing mental or emotional damage that might restrict them from certain things and change there usual lifestyle, by this its effecting there overall health.

Im caywood, everyone has a differant leval of heath. If you have a disability E.G your in a wheelchair it could effect your health mentally and emotionally, but if the person did a physical activity like wheelchair hocky then they would be healthy physicly.

everyone has different circumstances, so their health will depend on that. For example if someone has a disabilty or in a wheel chair then they may not be as physically fit as someone that may excerise a few times a week. Also if you eat healthily then this will decrease your chances of getting sick, where as people that dont eat as healthy are more prone.
Other aspects such as emotional health can be a huge impact on yourself if you are depressed or going through a hard time.

    Hi.
Someone that has an injury could be healthy compared to someone who is not injured. Although it depends on the blance of their 5 dimensions.

Everyone has different leval of health. An individual’s circumstances affect their health, because people who don’t have a leg but they have emotional damage by losing legs also first they cannot move easily but they still can move so some of them has much better of health than normal person.Depends on your health management from having a good life style e.g. good phycal, mental health

Different people live under different circumstances and sometimes these circumstances can affect their abillity to lead a healthy and fufilling life

eg if a peson had to eat bad foods due to their current financial status being at a state of low they may not be able to access healthy and adequate amounts of food therefore leading to malnourisment.

An example of an individual’s circumstances effecting their health could be a teenager who is going through the stage of adolesence. He has severe acne problems which effects his mental health by being depressed.

Hi im Cameron, different individuals circumstances can easily affect their health in a variety of different ways. A person smoking will ultimately ruin and impact on their physical health and make it harder to exercise efficiently and live a healthy lifestyle. it can have lifetime consequences too such as longterm diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema and heart disease. By having the ability to make rational decisions and choices, your health will be satisfactory and you will lead a more happy and rewarding as well as longer life. With that you will benefit greatly

for instance if you are not getting enought exercise or the correct diet it can effect your health and therefore leading to their damage in mental health because they are worried about their appearance and trying to fit in.

an example of an individuals circumstances affectin there health is if a kid was forced to work full days 5 days a week. this would not only affect them socially because they would have less time to hang out with friends but physically because that much work would make u reallytired.

    G,day,

an example of how an individuals circumstances affect their health is; if someone has experience something traumatic, they could be damaged emotionally and mentally for a long period of time depending on the severity of the incident and this could affect their social life as they would be scared of certain things around them in everyday life. Their physical health could also be affected greatly as they may not go outside as often because they may be afraid that what they experienced may happen again.

    YYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYUUUUSSSS!!!
